Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
1 Thessalonians 5:1-2

The world events are obviously telling us that what is written in the Scripture is now happening in our generation. People are getting self-centered, focusing on things that offers immediate reward. Just as technology makes communication faster and easier, prayer and personal quiet time with the Lord is getting stale that it becomes an option. The unexpected catastrophes and the dreaded rise of religious extremism in many parts of the world is also alarming.

But take note, all these are just the beginning of the birth pain, Jesus said: You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. - Matthew 28:6-8

What we shall do then? As a follower of Jesus Christ, we are called to live a life that will draw people to God. It means we need to walk the talk, to honor Him in all we do, think and say. Most of all, we need to obey God in fulfilling the great commissions- "... Go, and make disciples of all nations..." Matthew 28:18-20

The Day of the Lord is the most dreadful event that will happen in our world at any moment. But knowing the date nor an hour is not revealed to anyone not even to the Son of God. We can only see the signs of His coming and indeed happening in our days. We all know what will happen to those who doesn't have Christ in their hearts that is why we need take every opportunity to tell our friends, neighbors and love ones that there is hope in Jesus when they let Him control their lives. Be encouraged my friend, that when you open your mouth to share the love of Jesus, the Holy Spirit will convict their hearts and will turn to Jesus by faith. For it is written, "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9
