Every good gift and
every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the father-(James 1:17).
God teaches us to tithe from what He has given, He teach us to give tithe or
(10 percent): And all the tithe of the land, or the fruit of the tree, is the
Lord’s: it is holy unto the Lord. (Lev. 27:30).
Set aside a tithe –
a tenth of all that your fields produce each year. Then go to the one place where the Lord your
God has chosen to be worship; and there in His presence eat the tithes of your
grain, wine and olive oil, and the firstborn of your cattle and sheep. Do this so that you may learn to honor the Lord
your God always - (Deut. 14:22-23).
Giving in addition
to tithe are the firstborn of man and beast – (Num.18:15-16-17) read for when?
And what to do right. Other one is the firstfruits of all crops (Num. 18:12).
Tithing is a
privilege, several centuries before the law was given on Mount Sinai, Abraham
gave a tithe to a representative of God. (Gen. 14:18-20; Heb. 7:1-3). Jacob promised to give a tenth of all God
blessed him with. (Gen. 28:22). Hence giving and tithing should not be
understood as Old Testament law or a religious obligation, rather it is a
privilege of those who choose to exercise their faithfulness to give. Tithing
expresses faith, this does not buy God’s Blessing upon our lives-(Mal. 3:10).
Those who give their tithe are expressing their faith in God in the most
practical way possible. They are saying “I believe the 90 percent that I have
left after tithing has God’s blessing on it. With God’s blessing, the 90
percent can purchase more than 100 would without His blessing. “It takes faith
upon acting the word of God in us (Lk. 6:38).
Give generously.
The Bible teaches us we are to give willingly and cheerfully, from a spirit of
generosity. God said to Moises “speak unto the Children of Israel, that they
bring me an offering:of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye
shall take my offering (Exo.25:2). Each
man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or
under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver – (2 Cor. 9:6,7). Generous
giving is proof of our love, faith and maturity. (2 Cor. 8:24; 9:6,8,13). A
generous believer causes others to give thanks to God. (2 Cor. 9:11,12).
Lastly, to the generous believers
like with the Philippine Church during the time of Paul, and he said; “but my
God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus
our Lord”-(Phil. 4:19). GOD BLESS US ALL!!!
